University, campus and Nuremberg
Its campus is located in the heart of one of Germany’s biggest economic regions. The courses and lectures are held in the center of Nuremberg. Meaning that students are closely connected to the economic and social life of the city. This enables them to bridge the gap between teaching theory and practical experience in companies, reserach insitutions, and think tanks.
Nuremberg is most often linked to its famous Christmas market. However, the city has much more to offer, including a strong industrial and research landscape, three major universities, and a vibrant cultural scene. The historic old town, 1,000-year-old Imperial Castle, museums, cafés and excellent public transport system all combine to make everyday life both convenient and enjoyable. With its major sports teams, festivals, green spaces, nearby nature reserves and excellent rail and airport connections, Nuremberg successfully combines tradition, leisure and global accessibility all in one.
Network, opportunities and alumni
Students take part in the Buddy Program and mentoring programs with PhD students. In addition, students have the opportunity to connect with alumni at the Economists Reception, visit institutions through field trips, and gain practical experience in courses and seminars with guest lecturers and external partners.
The Economists Reception invites former students of the Master of Science in Economics (MSE) program once each semester. During this event, alumni talk about their current jobs and share their experiences and insights about their career paths.

In addition, the program offers various opportunities to take part in courses with external partners such as TenneT, N-ERGIE, and others. Another example is a course on banking supervision taught by an experienced practitioner.
The Nuremberg metropolitan region has around 3.6 million residents and therefore also hosts a large number of well-known companies and potential employers for students and graduates. Some prominent employers include Adidas, Puma, Siemens, Bosch, DATEV, Consorsbank, MAN, GfK, Novartis, Immowelt, and Schaeffler, among many others. Nuremberg also hosts a number of hidden champions, start-ups, and think tanks like ZOLLHOF.
Global network
The program collaborates with the Competence Centre on Behavioural Insights (CCBI) at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Brussels, making it one of only 11 universities in Europe with this partnership. MSE students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of behavioral science and policy through a 3-4 month internship at the CCBI.
The School of Business and Economics is connected to the world. With over 120 partner universities in around 40 countries, it is part of a vast international network.
